I cannot imagine, nor ever admit it possible, that in the art of the theatre there could one day wither and fade that immortal tradition – the one that places, in the burning focus of the stage, the living soul of the actor, the human heart laid bare, and the godlike, heaven-touched Word.

About me
I’m Elena Shatokhina, a mezzo-soprano who loves sharing the beauty of opera and chamber music. My repertoire includes roles like Amneris, Eboli, Santuzza, Marfa in Mussorgsky’s Khovanshchina, Ljubasha in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride, and Carmen in Bizet’s Carmen.
Music has taken me to wonderful places—festivals and stages across Russia, France, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. My journey began in Engels, Russia, and continued at the Saratov State Conservatoire, where I studied under Professor Liliya Belova.
I’ve sung in more than 100 concerts as a soloist with the Saratov State Philharmonic, debuted at the Saratov Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, and taught at the conservatoire. Along the way, I’ve met incredible musicians, worked with inspiring conductors, and been honored at international competitions.
Today, I continue to perform and teach, because music is not just my profession—it’s my way of connecting with people. I’d love for you to explore my recordings and join me on this journey.
