The premiere of “Sadko” by Rimsky-Korsakov is being prepared in Slovak National Theatre (SND). Not every theatre can show off such an opera in its repertoire, because in the first place it requires a large cast of soloists: 4 tenors, 4 bass singers, 2 mezzo-sopranos, 2 baritones and a soprano. Secondly, it’s a tale, which demands a rich, at least an interesting setting.
SND decided to take this chance, and one can only take delight in it – wonderful music, a lot of beautiful arias and symphonic moments.
The stage director is an American artist Daniel Kramer. It’s his first production in Bratislava.
The premiere is set on the 26th of January 2018.
